How We Registered Prigo X with the Ministry of Finance: Three Ways to Do It, and What the Wait Was Really Like
By Shamsuddin Salleh, Founder & CEO

Prigo X Technologies is registered with the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF registration 357-0002440369) across all nine ICT sub-fields, codes 210101 to 210109, and is listed in ePerolehan. We submitted the application ourselves on 29 July 2026 and received the certificate on 21 September 2026, 54 days later, with nothing to do in between. This is what the process involved, the three ways you can approach it, and what the certificate does and does not give you.
Why it matters
A Malaysian government agency cannot buy from a company that is not MOF-registered. It does not matter how good the software is or who recommends you: without the Sijil Akuan Pendaftaran Syarikat, you are not a vendor the agency is allowed to pay. For a company that builds for the public sector, MOF registration is the first credential a procurement officer checks — before Malaysia Digital status, before awards, before the portfolio.
Three ways to get it done
With an agent or consultant. There are firms that will prepare and submit the application for a fee, chase it, and tell you what the portal means when it asks for something. If your company secretary already handles your SSM filings, they may offer this too. It costs money, and in return you spend none of your own time on it. For a busy team that is a fair trade.
Yourself. The application is online, in Bahasa Melayu, and every field asks for something your company already has or can get from its secretary. This is what we did. If you can fill in a tender form, you can fill in this one; the work is in gathering documents and scanning them properly, not in understanding the questions.
With MOF's help, at no charge. The Ministry runs Hari Bertemu Pembekal eP sessions — supplier days where the ePerolehan team walks you through the application and answers questions about documents and fields. In earlier years these sessions also had MOF officers approving complete applications on the spot; in 2026 they are guidance only, so you still submit online and wait like everyone else. They are still the right place to go if you are unsure about anything, because the answers come from the people who run the system. Dates and venues are announced on the MOF website.
Have everything ready before you start
The application is not hard, but it is unforgiving about completeness. Every document it asks for is mandatory, and an incomplete submission adds to a wait that is already long. We prepared everything first, then submitted in one sitting.
The current document checklist is published on the ePerolehan portal under supplier registration; use that rather than a list copied from a blog, because it changes. Expect it to cover the company's SSM records, its directors and the people you authorise to deal with government procurement, its bank account, and its business premises.
One decision to make before you apply: who is named on the certificate. It lists the individuals authorised to act for the company in government procurement. Changing them later is a profile update with its own waiting period, so decide at the start.
Choosing your fields (kod bidang)
MOF registers you per field of supply, not as a company in general. For ICT the codes sit under 210101 to 210109: hardware (low and high end), packaged software and databases, software and system development, customisation and maintenance, telecommunications and networking, data management, ICT security, multimedia, and hardware and software leasing.
We registered in all nine. The field a procurement officer searches by is the one on the tender notice, and a software company that can also supply the hardware, networking and security around its systems should not be excluded on a technicality. Some fields require you to show personnel with particular qualifications, so read the requirement for each code before you tick it rather than ticking everything by default.
What it costs
The fee is per company, not per field: RM50 when you apply, and RM400 once the application is approved — RM450 for a registration that lasts three years. Pay the RM400 promptly when the approval comes; the registration is not active until it is paid.
The waiting
We submitted on 29 July 2026. Nothing happened — no request for clarification, no status change — until the fields were registered on 19 September and the certificate was issued on 21 September. Fifty-four days.
54 days from submission to certificate, with nothing to do in between.
The honest advice is to submit, then forget about it. There is no status to refresh and nobody to call who will move it faster. Plan for about eight weeks and start before you need it. If a tender you want closes in a month, it is already too late to begin.
What you get
A virtual certificate — the Sijil Akuan Pendaftaran Syarikat — that you no longer have to show when collecting tender documents, because agencies check ePerolehan directly. It is valid for three years. Renewal has to be applied for three months before expiry, and if you let it lapse by more than a year the registration is cancelled and you start again from scratch. We have the renewal in the calendar for June 2029.
The certificate comes with conditions that are easy to meet and important not to forget: tell MOF within 21 days of any change to the company's directors, shareholding, address or authorised people; do not let anyone else use your certificate; and do not change the company's owners or directors in the first six months after registration.
What it is not
MOF registration makes you eligible to be paid by the government. It does not give you Bumiputera status, which is a separate application with its own criteria; it does not give you Malaysia Digital status, which comes from MDEC and is about what you build rather than whom you can sell to; and it does not win you a single tender. It opens the door. The work is still on the other side of it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an agent to register with MOF in Malaysia?
No. The application is made online through ePerolehan and asks only for documents a company already has or can obtain from its company secretary. An agent saves you the time; MOF's own supplier-day sessions give you free guidance. Prigo X applied directly.
How long does MOF registration take?
Prigo X's application took 54 days from submission to certificate, with no correspondence in between. Prepare every document before submitting, because an incomplete application is the most common cause of delay.
What does MOF registration cost?
RM450 per company for three years: RM50 on application and RM400 on approval. There is no fee per field of supply.
Which kod bidang should a software company register under?
At minimum 210104 (software and system development, customisation and maintenance) and 210103 (packaged software and databases). Prigo X registered under all nine ICT sub-fields, 210101 to 210109, so that it is not excluded from tenders that bundle hardware, networking or security with the software. Some fields require qualified personnel, so check each code's requirement.
Where can I get help with an ePerolehan application?
At MOF's Hari Bertemu Pembekal eP sessions, where the ePerolehan team guides suppliers through the application and answers questions. In 2026 these sessions are guidance only — applications are still submitted and approved online. Dates are announced on the Ministry of Finance website.
How long is an MOF registration valid?
Three years. Apply for renewal at least three months before it expires; a registration left to lapse for more than a year is cancelled.
Is Prigo X registered with MOF?
Yes. Prigo X Technologies Sdn. Bhd. holds MOF registration 357-0002440369, registered on 21 September 2026 across ICT codes 210101 to 210109, and is listed in ePerolehan.
